For my adventurous resolution to travel more this year. That means cutting back on spending habits and improving saving habits too. Then, it is beginning to save again for new travel destinations.

Here is what I pack no matter the destination!

Top 10 Packing List for Your Next Adventure

Time to EXPLORE! Whether you are headed to a tropical beach, exploring vibrant cities, or trekking through hidden gems around the world, packing the right gear is key to a smooth and memorable trip.

As someone who has been fortunate enough to travel to many diverse destinations, I have gathered the ultimate packing essentials for any adventure—no matter where your travels take you. Get ready to explore the world!

1. Sunscreen and Lip Balm (Of Course This is My #1)

You might not always be lounging under the sun, but UV rays can find you wherever you go—even on cloudy days or in colder climates. Protect your skin with a high-SPF. Pack the larger sunscreen bottles in a plastic bag in your suitcase. Do not forget your lips—lip balm with SPF is a total game-changer. I always have lip balms in my purse, carryon, and toiletries bag.

In tropical destinations, be sure to bring reef-safe mineral sunscreen to protect both your skin and the environment.

2. Versatile Clothing for Every Climate

One of the best packing tips I can offer is to pack clothing that can work in multiple environments. If you are from or have lived in Colorado, you know you can experience all four seasons in just one day.

Even if you are heading somewhere warm, it is wise to bring a light jacket or sweater for cool evenings. If you are venturing to a place with fluctuating weather, like the mountains or coastal regions, pack layers and a waterproof jacket. You can easily to mix and match your layers for conditions.

3. Sturdy, Comfortable Shoes

Wherever you go, you are going to walk—possibly a lot! Comfort is key, and I recommend bringing at least two pairs of shoes: comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing and adventures, and a pair of chic sandals or flipflops for evenings out, casual days or beach visits. If you are exploring a city or hiking, choose shoes with good support to avoid blisters and sore feet. Keep bandages in your bag just in case your shoes begin to rub.

Pro Tip: Pack shoes that can handle a bit of everything—like waterproof hiking shoes for both urban exploration and nature walks! I love Chaco sandals! Remember, shoes will rub differently when wet or sweaty.

4. Water Bottle and Hydration Essentials

Wherever you are, staying hydrated is important. Bring a reusable water bottle to refill as you go and avoid relying on single-use plastic. If you are going to a warmer climate or higher altitudes, it is especially important to sip water often to prevent dehydration. Hydration packs or smart water bottles that track your intake are also a great option if you are hiking or spending time outdoors.

5. Photos and Portable Power Bank

A smartphone with a good camera will suffice, but nothing is worse than running out of battery in the middle of an epic experience, whether you are navigating with Google Maps in a new city or taking photos of an incredible sunset. A portable power bank is a lifesaver, especially when you are out exploring all day and cannot always find a power outlet.

Look for a lightweight, high-capacity power bank that can charge your phone multiple times throughout the day.

Pro Tip: If traveling internationally, definitely get an outlet converter or power adapter! You will ruin your electronics, or they will not fit international outlets if you do not use the appropriate plug and power. The adapter plugs into the international outlets and you can then plug your electronics into the U.S. side of the adapter.

6. Travel-Size Toiletries and Essentials

When it comes to toiletries, it is always a good idea to pack travel-size bottles to save space and comply with airline regulations. Essentials like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and deodorant are key—but do not forget some wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and tissues (especially if you are traveling to places where facilities might be sparse). Shop for refillable travel size bottles and other travel toiletries at the dollar store. You can fill the 3oz empty containers at home with your own products. Including facewash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair product, or hand sanitizer.

Pro Tip: Keep your toiletries in a clear, zip-top bag for easy airport security access. Have it pulled out and ready to go once you are to the x-ray belt for a faster security check.

7. A Book (Yes, Really)

You may want some disconnected peace by the pool, new entertainment for layovers and delays, or for when your phone battery dies, and you do not feel like sitting or pacing the concourse any longer. Download audiobooks for free from Libby or other apps that connect to your public library. My favorite? Reading poolside, beach lounging, or simply a relaxing nighttime read for a break from the TV or your phone.

8. Small First Aid Kit

It is always better to be prepared! Pack a compact first aid kit with basics like band-aids, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any medications you may need. If you are traveling to more remote destinations, it is also a good idea to include anti-diarrhea medicine, motion sickness tablets, and blister care supplies.

A small, waterproof kit is a great option that you can stash in your backpack or purse. At the minimum, pack bandages, alcohol wipes, Tylenol, and Claritin (better medications for people with heart problems, and in general). I would recommend an extra dose or two of your medications.

Pro Tip: I include cuticle or small sewing scissors, nail clippers, and a file where I am legally allowed to carry the items.

9. Headphones

Headphones are great for blocking out noise, making it easier to relax or focus in noisy travel environments. They provide entertainment and privacy, allowing you to enjoy music, podcasts, or movies without disturbing others. Additionally, they improve comfort during long journeys by helping you concentrate, communicate, or sleep.

10. Daypack or Sling Bag

When you are exploring a new destination, you will want a small daypack to carry your essentials: water, camera, snacks, and extra layers. A sling bag or crossbody bag is excellent if you prefer something smaller and more secure for your passport, wallet, and phone. I have a crossbody bag I use for traveling. It has a perfect wallet and passport pocket. The pocket is hidden against my back, so no one can get into it without me knowing.
If you are trekking or hiking, go for a lightweight backpack with plenty of compartments to stay organized.

Packing for any trip does not have to be stressful, and by bringing the right gear, you will ensure your time away is full of exploration, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. From city strolls to jungle treks or lounging on the beach, these 10 essentials are your key to a smooth and enjoyable journey, no matter where you go.

So, are you ready for your next adventure? The world is waiting — time to go!
